I'm interested in visiting other like-minded creative schools to share ideas about children's learning. I'm currently involved in a programme where we are using multi-media to develop a MFL and Marilyn Eccles suggested maybe getting together at some point.
ReplyDeleteWe'd welcome this John and did you know that Islington school of arts and media have used radio to boost MFL. They have done some interesting work on cultures and food with children learning about food from around the world and operating cafes.
ReplyDeleteYou can call me on 01642 289211 if you'd like to visit or in the new year if there is sufficient interest we will organise a day to bring schools together to swap ideas on a bigger scale.
Steve
I've just visited Martin's website, very impressive! We have been working for a few years now on a project linked to our "Sid's Place" a theraputic inclusion centre whcih has had a major role in dropping our exclusion rates from the worst in the borough to almost zero. Guess what, we also use green spaces and grow and sell veg and have also experimented with small plots for local famiiies. These are appealing as there are always waiting lists for allotments and a full allotment is too big a commitment for a single parent to take on.
ReplyDeleteI am the Creative Consultant for Redcar CC and Broadway Junior School and I am delighted that this blog has been set up because I have been encouraging the NE SOC to form a network. This blog gives us all the chance to find out about what is happening in each of the schools that is making a difference to children's learning. Thanks for setting this up Steve.
ReplyDeleteI see so many good things when I visit the SOC I want you all to share them! Great to hear that John is going to visit you Steve.
Thank you Marilyn, I think we need to encourage our colleagues to start sharing. It would be tragic to lose all of this good practice and by swapping ideas freely we all gain.
